My 7 favorite supplements!
Hey amazing ones. Let’s chat a bit about supplements! So even though you might eat the cleanest ever and take super great care of your body, it’s still extremely important to take supplements based on your lifestyle and certain health conditions. Some common supplements include vitamins, minerals and herbal products, also known as botanicals. Supplements are great to make sure your body is getting enough essential nutrients, and it helps to maintain and improve your health and wellness.
For example: If you workout a lot, or you are a person who does not handle stress well, to boost your immune system, or to add vitamins and minerals that you might be lacking from your diet, supplements are usually an ideal option.
I never took supplements because I assumed that once I ate wholesome foods and exercised that I would be fine. But I started realizing that my body lacked certain things based on how I was feeling. It is so important to be in tune with your body, because it will let you know what it’s lacking.
So I started supplementing for about 2 years now and I feel amazing! Of course I like taking the natural and organic route as best as I can. I personally have like one million, well actually maybe one million and two that I adore. But these 7 are my favorites!
Always consult your primary doctor before taking any of these as well.
Ashwagandha is one of the most important herbs in Ayurveda. It is a form of alternative medicine based on Indian principles of natural healing. It is a medicinal herb that contains numerous health benefits. It can reduce anxiety and stress, blood sugar levels, it also contains anti-cancer properties, helps to boost brain function, boosts testosterone levels in men, and it helps to fight against depression. I love using it in my protein shakes because I get the powdered form and it just pairs very well.
I also shared some more about ashwagandha on my youtube channel.
It's typically taken orally, but some products are sprayed or applied to the skin. Colloidal silver can act as an alternative to antibiotics because it stimulates your immune system. It can also help with wound healing and skin conditions, and prevent or treat diseases and conditions like cancer, AIDS, shingles, herpes, eye infections, pneumonia, and the flu. I usually take it in the liquid form. I orally take a few drops per day.
Studies show that boswellia may reduce inflammation and may be useful in treating the following conditions: osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and asthma. It also protects the liver and relieves pain. I started taking boswellia after intense workouts. It really assisted with reducing the pain from my joints. I take it in a tablet form.
Collagen is the most abundant protein found in your body. It’s also one of the most vital proteins your body needs to function. Collagen is the glue that holds your body together. Since it’s a major component found in your connective tissue, collagen maintains the structure and integrity of your skin, muscle tissue, bones and tendons. And as your get older collagen decreases. That’s why it is important to supplement it. Some benefits include: brain and Alzheimer protection, less back pain, prevents heart disease. I get an unflavored organic one in a powdered from and I use it in my cold press juices.
Promoters of echinacea say that the herb encourages the immune system and reduces many of the symptoms of colds, flu and some other illnesses, infections, and conditions. Echinacea is a perennial plant, meaning it lasts for many years. It is used for acid ingestion, migraines, increases antioxidants, reduces inflammation when you are sick. I take a few drops orally and I give my kids the kid’s echinacea drops as well. Especially when they seem a bit under the weather.
Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae. It contains a number of nutrients, including B vitamins, beta-carotene, and vitamin E. High in protein (it's often used as a vegan source of protein). Spirulina also contains antioxidants, minerals, and chlorophyll. It may also contain anti-cancer properties, and may reduce blood pressure. I give this one to my kids as well. We use it in our smoothies and cold press juices.
This one is a new found love! Traditional healers in Sikkim recommend the fungus/mushroom Cordyceps sinensis for “all illnesses” as a tonic, because they claim that it improves energy, appetite, stamina, libido, endurance, and sleeping patterns. It also contains anti-aging properties, and potential anti-tumor effects. I take this one in a tablet form.
So there you have it! Pretty amazing stuff right? (LOL). Have you ever tried any of these? Leave me a comment below and let me know. And share one of your personal favorites too! I would love to try it!
Let’s cheers to taking the very best care of our temples!
